I Confess: I'm really glad Prius Online is back (as Arcane Saga)

Me and Punky back in my Prius Online (not the car!) days.

Back when Prius Online came out, I gave it a shot. While I admit that it didn't come close to blowing me away compared to many other f2p offerings, - for some strange reason I kept logging in anyway.
This is true, even though I had issues with several apsects of the game:

  • The voice acting was terrible (when you click on an NPC just try not to laugh)
  • The translations were hilariously bad at times. Misspelled words in cutscene captions were good comedy!
  • Much of the music sounded like it was recorded on an old tiny Casio keyboard (some of it isn't too bad though)
  • Some of the gameplay and questing was repetitive and linear.
  • Random environment textures looked like they were borrowed from 2003, while others were very nice.
  • Gender locked classes were very frustrating (why why why?!?)

Some of the positive aspects I remember, and expect in Arcane Saga:

  • The combat was always satisfying - hits felt like hits. Numbers galore if you set the fight up right.
  • Combat and movement was smooth (standard hotkey MMO, which I don't mind at all)
  • The classes were interesting to play and advance in.
  • The anima system worked well, and somehow I still miss my little Punky :(
  • Gigas were fun to play and added an interesting element to the game.
  • Some of the most creative and interesting mounts I've seen.
Ultimately, in my opinion, the biggest flaw of all for Prius Online was gPotato. The game didn't get much love and was tossed aside far too quickly.

Now that Netmarble has picked it up, and it promises to get more attention - I'll be hopping back into the game once again.

NOTE: THIS GAME IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY! I couldn't even get my fifteen-year-old to even boot it up. I'm not offended if most of you reading this don't like the game. I'd actually be surprised if some of you actually enjoyed it!

Arcane Saga will be one of my guilty pleasures - don't judge me! Ha!

Fit Before 40 - that's my new goal

As I've been investing in WildStarFans.net, I've been thinking about what I'd like to do with this space here. Originally my plan was to make this a hub of my geekiness and talk about general video games, mobile gaming platforms and the like.  I will probably still do all of those things, but I'm going to add another purpose to this blog as well - a journal. Allow me to explain.

I'll turn 39 on May 12th. Tomorrow morning I'm beginning a new workout program in the aim of being fit before I turn 40. What do I mean by fit? I mean at a healthy weight and living a lifestyle that will help ensure I'm active and ready to participate in the lives of my kids. This will be a challenge since I'm currently about 100 pounds overweight.

Now, I've started plenty of workout programs and have seen some success in the past but haven't been 100% committed to exercise and healthy eating as a lifestyle.

I'll be tossing up occasional blog posts of my progress.

P90X starts tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Welcome to the new world of Free games!

As my dad taught me growing up, "There 'aint no free lunch". Apparently this developer wants to eat fancy.

What I've Been Up To

Hey friends, just a quick update.  I've been doing a heckuvalotta posting over at my other site www.wildstarfans.net.  I'll still be posting here about non-wildstar stuff though, also updating you on my slow moving labor of love indie-game "Devotion".

Stay awesome!
